Environmental Impact
With a set of holistic sustainability principles, ENVI Lodges is focused on creating a green atmosphere at each of its eco-friendly properties. At ENVI Sisini Serengeti, this involves conservation efforts and habitat restoration. One such initiative is the Adopt a Tree program, where guests staying at the camp can plant an indigenous acacia tree. In addition, the camp prides itself on having an organic garden. Managed and cared for by a local farmer, the vegetables, fruits, and herbs grown within the garden are used to create camp cuisine.
Going Green
ENVI Lodges consistently makes an effort to reduce its carbon footprint. One such way is by combating greenhouse gases using solar power, with the camp harnessing energy from the sun as a renewable substitute. Energy-efficient installations are scattered across the camp while ENVI Sisini Serengeti also charges a small, carbon-offsetting fee with each booking that is used to purchase carbon credits and further help the environment. Single-use plastic has also been banned from the camp, with an on-site water treatment facility providing clean drinking water. Each guest also receives a stainless steel bottle to use throughout their stay.
Committing to the Community
Just outside of the western edge of Serengeti National Park lies Robanda Primary School, where around 400 students are enrolled at one time. ENVI Lodges helps support education through the enhancement of the campus and its curriculum, all as part of its goal to enhance the local community. Additional efforts go toward generating economic empowerment for the Ikoma people, who run the Ikoma Cultural Center where their traditions are showcased. The camp also prides itself on hiring employees from the region, with roughly 96% of ENVI Sisini Serengeti staff members coming from Tanzania.
