We are committed to positive and transformative impact. Here are some ways they do it at andBeyond Klein’s Camp.

Protecting Wildlife
Located within a private preserve on the edge of Serengeti National Park, wildlife conservation remains integral to andBeyond Klein’s Camp. As a founding member of the Lionscape Coalition, an initiative between the Lion Recovery Fund and the ecotourism industry designed to protect local prides, andBeyond has helped generate peaceful co-existence between lions and people. The group also supports the Serengeti De-Snaring Program, which removes snares from the park, releases animals trapped in them, and combats poaching. In addition, Echo environmental education classes allow local students to visit preservation areas and learn about careers in conservation.
Living Off the Land
The camp lies on a private wildlife concession that the tour company leases from Maasai natives. With the help of the nonprofit Wild Impact, the two developed a mutually beneficial agreement that provides andBeyond the chance to showcase Tanzanian wildlife while the Maasai use the rest of the land for cattle grazing. andBeyond Klein’s Camp has also created initiatives to stay sustainable, such as a water bottling and purification plant, with more than 220,000 bottles eliminated annually and over 680,000 liters of water saved. All camp amenities are also recyclable.
Committing to the Community
When andBeyond took over the operation of Klein’s Camp in the late 1990s, there were no medical facilities in the nearby Maasai village of Ololosokwan. Through its partnership with Wild Impact, andBeyond was able to construct a clinic and hire a doctor to see patients from Ololosokwan and other neighboring communities. Having reliable access to healthcare has transformed the lives of the Maasai people. Another way that andBeyond has helped to support the community is by providing work to locals, with about 78% of andBeyond Klein’s Camp staff coming from surrounding villages.
